Retinol
Retinol is a derivative of vitamin A, it is recognized as one of the best anti-aging active ingredients, acting effectively on wrinkles, spots, radiance, firmness and even acne. Used for decades in dermatological care, it has established itself as an essential ingredient for younger and healthier skin.
Retinol stimulates the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid in the dermis, helping to maintain skin thickness and keep skin plump and firm. By increasing collagen, it helps reduce the depth of wrinkles and improve the overall texture of the skin. It also boosts the radiance of the complexion, refines skin texture, tightens pores and regulates melanin synthesis, which helps reduce pigment spots and even out skin tone.
In addition to its anti-aging properties, retinol has an exfoliating action comparable to that of vitamin C or AHA/BHA. It promotes cell renewal, unclogging pores and regulating sebum production. This exfoliating action helps smooth the skin and reduce the appearance of blemishes, while preventing new breakouts from forming.
To integrate retinol into your skincare routine, it is recommended to apply it in the evening in small quantities, once or twice a week, to allow the skin to get used to it. Its frequency of use can be increased gradually, depending on the skin's tolerance, up to daily application.
Retinol photosensitizes the skin, so it is essential to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen during the day to protect it, prevent damage, and maintain the benefits of retinol.
